My roots run deep in the South. From the mountains in Virginia to backroads in the Carolinas, the South is my home and it has my heart.
It is here that I've learned folk music...in my Aunt Hettie's house, cozily snuggled in the hills. I've listened to stories of my granny passed down from those who loved her most. I've driven aimlessly and endlessly through backroads dotted with cows and tractors. I've admired sunrises over the Blue Ridge Mountains that are kissed by the morning fog. These roots inspire and inform my art.
I come from a family of story-tellers. I've often admired their gift to make people whom I've never met come to life, so I can know them even after they've passed on. I like to think that I am a story-teller too...in a way.
A friend of mine once wrote that she likes the idea that her photographs may collect dust in the attic for years to come. I find a lot of beauty in that thought. That my photographs once forgotten will be found again, one day by somebody who needs to remember a loved one...reflect on a past memory...or introduce a special someone to grandchildren who never got the chance to meet them in person.
I hope that you will allow me to get to know you. To learn about your passions, loves, and dreams. I can't wait to create images alongside you that tell your stories, stories that will be passed down through your generations, and memories that you will treasure forever.
